Bhagavad Gita 12.16 meaning
anapekshah shuchir daksha udaseeno gatavyathah
sarvarambha-parityagee yo madbhaktah sa me priyah
One who expects nothing, is pure and capable, stays neutral, untroubled, and has given up selfish ventures, that devotee of mine is dear to me.
What it means
Being skilled and capable without demanding anything in return is rare and freeing. Expectations often cause our deepest disappointments; drop them and simply do good work with a clean heart. How it helps in real life
- Helping others: You helped a junior get a job at your company. Don't expect gratitude or favours later; be glad it worked out and let it go.
- With family: You paid for your sister's wedding and she barely thanked you. Drop the expectation, keep the love, and stop mentioning it at gatherings.
Spoken by Krishna.
