Ashtavakra Gita 4.5 meaning

abrahmastambaparyante bhootagrame chaturvidhe vijnasy-aiva hi samarthyam ichchanichchavivarjane

Among all four kinds of living beings, from the creator Brahma down to a blade of grass, only the wise person has the power to drop both wanting and not-wanting.

What it means
Everyone is pulled by likes and dislikes. Stepping beyond both, so you are not pushed around by every craving or aversion, is a rare strength. It is built through understanding, not willpower alone.

Spoken by Janaka.
