Ashtavakra Gita · Chapter 18
Ashtavakra Gita 18.52 meaning
uchchrinkhalapy-akritika sthitir dheerasya rajate
na tu sasprihachittasya shantir moodhasya kritrima
The state of the wise one, unrestrained and unforced, shines. But the forced calm of a confused person, whose mind is still full of craving, does not.
What it means
Calm that is acted out while desire still burns inside is tiring to keep up. Genuine peace does not need to look disciplined. It is relaxed because nothing inside is fighting.
Spoken by Ashtavakra.
