Ashtavakra Gita · Chapter 1
Ashtavakra Gita 1.6 meaning
dharmadharmau sukham duhkham manasani na te vibho
na kart-asi na bhokt-asi mukta ev-asi sarvada
Right and wrong, pleasure and pain belong to the mind, not to you, all-pervading one. You are not the doer and not the one who suffers results. You are always free.
What it means
Moods, guilt and pleasure pass through the mind like weather. Your deeper self watches them without being damaged. Seeing this does not make you careless; it stops you from drowning in every feeling.
Spoken by Ashtavakra.
