arthasya nishchayo drishto vicharena hit-oktitah na snanena na danena pranayamashatena va

Certainty about truth comes from reflecting on wise counsel, not from bathing in holy waters, giving gifts, or doing hundreds of breathing exercises.

What it means
Practices have their place, but understanding comes only from thinking things through. Don't outsource your clarity to ritual; sit with good teachings and reflect. Clarity grows when you think, question and listen.

Spoken by Adi Shankaracharya.
