nadharmasahitam shlaghyam na lokapratisanhitam
karma dauratmyakam kritva shlaghase bhratrinirjayat
नाधर्मसहितं श्लाघ्यं न लोकप्रतिसंहितम्।
कर्म दौरात्म्यकं कृत्वा श्लाघसे भ्रातृनिर्जयात्॥
An act that is unrighteous and condemned by the world is nothing to be proud of. You did an evil deed and now boast of defeating your own brother.
What it means
King Marutta rebukes Ravana for bragging about defeating his brother Kubera. Winning through wrongdoing, especially against family, is a disgrace, not a triumph. Ask how a victory was earned.हिंदी में अर्थ
जो कर्म अधर्म से भरा हो और जिसे संसार निंदनीय माने, वह प्रशंसा के योग्य नहीं। तुम दुष्टता करके अपने ही भाई को हराने की डींग मार रहे हो।
राजा मरुत्त रावण को भाई कुबेर को हराने की डींग पर फटकारते हैं। गलत तरीक़े से, ख़ासकर अपनों पर, मिली जीत शर्म है, गर्व नहीं। जीत का तरीक़ा भी मायने रखता है।
