Subhashitas Subhashita 402 meaning
santosham param-asthaya sukh-arthee sanyato bhavet
santoshamoolam hi sukham duhkhamoolam viparyayah
One who seeks happiness should hold on to contentment above all and live with self-restraint. Contentment is the root of happiness; its opposite is the root of sorrow.
What it means
Think of contentment as a root, not a reward. If you wait to feel satisfied only after every goal is met, the feeling never arrives. Grow it first, and the rest of life rests on it.
