utkarshavan nijaguno yatha yatha yati karnam anyasya
dhanur iva suvanshajanma tatha tatha sajjano namati
उत्कर्षवान्निजगुणो यथा यथा याति कर्णमन्यस्य ।
धनुरिव सुवंशजन्मा तथा तथा सज्जनो नमति ॥
The more one's own fine qualities reach other people's ears, the more a good person bows — like a well-made bow of fine bamboo that bends further the more the string is drawn to the ear.
