sajjanasya hridayam navaneetam yad vadanti kavayas tad aleekam
anyadeha-vilasat-paritapat sajjano dravati no navaneetam
सज्जनस्य हृदयं नवनीतं यद्वदन्ति कवयस्तदलीकम् ।
अन्यदेहविलसत्परितापात् सज्जनो द्रवति नो नवनीतम् ॥
Poets say a good person's heart is like butter, but that is not quite true. Butter melts from its own heat; a good person melts at the pain in someone else's body.

कवि कहते हैं कि सज्जन का हृदय मक्खन जैसा होता है, पर यह ठीक नहीं। मक्खन अपनी गर्मी से पिघलता है, सज्जन दूसरों के दुख से पिघल जाता है।
कोमल हृदय का अर्थ कमज़ोर होना नहीं है। सच्ची कोमलता अपने दुख से नहीं, दूसरों के दुख से पिघलती है। दूसरों का दर्द महसूस कीजिए और उसे कर्म में बदलिए।
