The moon brightens the whole world, so why does it not wipe away the dark spot on itself? It is well known that good people, busy with others' welfare, care little for their own affairs.

What it means
Many kind people neglect themselves while caring for everyone else. The verse admires this selflessness, but it is also a gentle reminder: if you are that person, the world will stay bright even if you pause to look after yourself.
