Ramcharitmanas 7.44.1 meaning
ehi tan kar phal bishay na bhaee svargau svalpa ant dukhadaee
nar tanu pai bishayan man deheen palati sudha te sath bish leheen
Brother, the purpose of this body is not sense pleasure; even heaven's pleasures are brief and end in sorrow. Those who get a human body and give their minds only to pleasures are fools who trade nectar for poison.
What it means
Pleasure is not the point of life; it fades and often leaves emptiness behind. Using a precious human life only for comfort and fun is like swapping nectar for poison. Aim for meaning. How it helps in real life
- When you succeed: Got the dream salary but feel empty after every weekend party? Spend next Saturday volunteering or learning something, and compare how you feel.
- Phone & habits: Binge-watching every night leaves you flat by Sunday. Swap two evenings this week for something that builds you, like a class or a call home.
