Ramcharitmanas 6.16b meaning
phoolai pharai na bet jadapi sudha barashahin jalad
moorukh hridayan na chet jaun gur milahin biranchi sam
The cane plant never flowers or fruits, even when clouds pour down nectar. In the same way, a foolish heart does not wake up, even if it meets a teacher as great as Brahma.
What it means
No teacher can help someone who refuses to learn. Advice falls on a closed mind like rain on a cane stalk. Growth begins the moment we are willing to listen and change. How it helps in real life
- At work: Your performance review says the same thing for the third year running. Stop defending yourself; ask for one concrete change and try it.
- As a parent: Lecturing your teen for the hundredth time isn't working. Ask what he thinks first, listen fully, and only then share your view.
Spoken by Tulsidas.
