dharamu na doosar satya samana agam nigam puran bakhana
main soi dharamu sulabh kari pava tajen tihoon pur apajasu chava
धरमु न दूसर सत्य समाना। आगम निगम पुरान बखाना॥
मैं सोइ धरमु सुलभ करि पावा। तजें तिहूँ पुर अपजसु छावा॥
There is no dharma equal to truth; the scriptures and Puranas all declare it. I have found that dharma easily. If I abandon it, disgrace will spread through all three worlds.

Rama refuses to return to the palace because a promise was made. Truth is the highest duty; living by it may cost comfort, but losing it costs everything.How it helps in real life

सत्य के समान दूसरा धर्म नहीं है, वेद, शास्त्र और पुराण यही कहते हैं। मुझे वह धर्म सहज ही मिला है; उसे छोड़ दूँ तो तीनों लोकों में अपयश फैलेगा।
वचन दिया गया था, इसलिए राम महल लौटने से मना करते हैं। सत्य सबसे बड़ा धर्म है; उस पर चलने में सुख छिन सकता है, पर उसे खोने में सब कुछ।
