साधु चरित सुभ चरित कपासू। निरस बिसद गुनमय फल जासू॥
जो सहि दुख परछिद्र दुरावा। बंदनीय जेहिं जग जस पावा॥
A good person's life is like cotton: plain, pure white and full of useful threads. It bears hardship itself to cover others' faults, and so earns honour across the world.
What it means
Cotton suffers being spun and woven so it can clothe others. Good people do the same: they quietly bear discomfort to protect others' dignity instead of exposing their flaws.How it helps in real life
- With friends: A friend made a big mistake at the reunion and everyone's gossiping. Quietly cover for her, and talk to her privately later.
- At work: Your teammate's bug caused the outage and the boss asks who did it. Say 'we'll fix it as a team', then help him fix it.
हिंदी में अर्थ
सज्जन का जीवन कपास जैसा होता है: रूखा-सादा, उजला और गुणों से भरा। वह खुद दुख सहकर दूसरों के छेद (दोष) ढँकता है, इसलिए संसार में आदर और यश पाता है।
कपास कटकर, बुनकर दूसरों का तन ढँकती है। भले लोग भी चुपचाप तकलीफ़ सहकर दूसरों की इज़्ज़त बचाते हैं, उनकी कमियाँ उछालते नहीं।
