आपु अहै तो हरि नहीं, हरि तो आपुन नाहिं॥

रहीम कहते हैं कि प्रेम की गली बहुत संकरी है, उसमें दो नहीं समा सकते। जहाँ 'मैं' है वहाँ हरि नहीं, और जहाँ हरि हैं वहाँ 'मैं' नहीं।
अहंकार प्रेम और ईश्वर की जगह घेर लेता है। जब हम खुद से भरे होते हैं तो कुछ बड़ा भीतर नहीं आ पाता। 'मैं' घटाएँ, शांति बढ़ेगी।
