रहीम कहते हैं कि बिगड़ा बेटा दीये जैसा होता है। जलते समय (बचपन में) उजाला लगता है, पर बढ़ने (बुझने) पर अँधेरा कर देता है।
शुरुआती चमक काफ़ी नहीं, अच्छे संस्कार ज़रूरी हैं। चरित्र के बिना बढ़ी प्रतिभा परिवार का नाम रोशन करने के बजाय धुँधला कर देती है।
