Kena Upanishad 4.2 meaning

tasmad va ete deva atitaram iv-anyan devan yad agnir vayur indras te hy enan nedishtham pasparshuh te hy enat prathamo vidanchakara brahm-eti

That is why these gods, Agni, Vāyu and Indra, stand above the other gods: they came closest to touching Brahman, and they were the first to know it as Brahman.

What it means
Even failed attempts count. Agni and Vāyu did not succeed, yet trying brought them closer to truth. Honest effort, even when it falls short, still moves you forward.

Spoken by Rishi.
