Srimad Bhagavatam 11.7.38 meaning

shashvat pararthasarvehah pararth-aikantasambhavah sadhuh shiksheta bhoobhritto nagashishyah paratmatam

A good person should learn from the mountain to spend all effort for the good of others, existing only for others. And from the tree, as its disciple, learn to live for others.

What it means
Mountains give rivers, minerals and shelter; trees give shade, fruit and air, asking nothing back. A life lived for others has a quiet strength and meaning that selfish living never finds.

Spoken by Avadhuta.
