Srimad Bhagavatam 11.23.42 meaning
n-ayam jano me sukhaduhkhahetur na devat-atma grahakarmakalah
manah param karanam amananti sansarachakram parivartayed yat
These people are not the cause of my happiness or sorrow, nor are the gods, my body, the planets, my past karma or time. The wise say the mind alone is the real cause, for it spins the wheel of worldly life.
What it means
An insulted, robbed beggar sings this song. Others may act, but how we experience it depends on our mind. Taking charge of our reactions is the beginning of freedom.
Spoken by Brahmin Mendicant.
