Bhagavad Gita 1.1 meaning

dharmakshetre kurukshetre samaveta yuyutsavah mamakah pandavash ch-aiva kim akurvata sanjaya

Sanjaya, tell me: gathered on the holy field of Kurukshetra, the field of dharma, eager for battle, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?

What it means
A blind king asks for news, but his words reveal his heart: he calls one side 'mine' and the other 'Pandu's'. The Gita opens with that split, a reminder that division begins inside us before it shows outside.

Spoken by Dhritarashtra.
